At Jan-Daksha Trust, we believe that knowledge is one of the most powerful tools to combat inequality. For this reason, we work within migrant labourer communities throughout Udaipur to disseminate information and research the sources and solutions of problems affecting migrant labourers. For the past ten years, Jan-Daksha Trust has operated a labour help and resources center, also known as Shrmik Sahayata evam Sandharabh Kendra, which provides the migrant labour workforce, especially its vulnerable female members, with access to both physical and emotional support.
The center registers labourers with the government and provide them with proper identification, healthcare, social security, and a platform to unionize. For those seeking to advance their careers, we offer vocational training and career counseling services, as well as support for enrollment at local universities. We even empower migrant workers beyond matters of pure employment, with emotional, legal, and healthcare support offered by our various counselors.
