Collectivization-To ensure the lasting impact of our work, we at Jan-Daksha Trust believe it is essential to empower migrant labourers to work together and find organic solutions to the difficulties they face. In order to facilitate this dialogue, we encourage migrant labourers to form collectives, or groups that conduct weekly meetings to discuss work-related issues and propose strategies to address these complaints.
We also educate members of labour collectives on the importance of saving money and loaning to one another. These practices create a secure environment similar to a bank, and they foster saving practices among marginalized workers, particularly women, who have little experience in forming long-term financial plans. Our collective project has witnessed remarkable success. To date, we have motivated workers to establish a total of nine collectives and even one organized labour union, capable of independently handling its legal proceedings. We have even made plans to create a women’s-only union in the near future. |
