Female migrant workers are often driven to find work in Udaipur due to financial desperation. Many of these women have never been formally employed, having opted instead to tend to their home and children. As a result, they often lack the qualifications for many financially stable jobs, and they thus default to low wage domestic help services.
Jan-Daksha Trust provides vocational training to small groups of female domestic workers to counteract this cycle of poverty and open their doors to new employment opportunities. Throughout the year, our organization offers skill-building courses in numerous fields, such as office assistance or plumbing. As a result of our programs and the career placement services we provide, trainees have found stable employment in careers with a higher average pay than typical, informal labour jobs. We also offer career counseling services to help women build upon skillsets they already possess and seek employment in fields that cater to their interests.
