Jan-Daksha Trust organized a healthcare workshop with 23 female migrant labourers at Nai village. The event began with a talk by health counselor Bhawna Shrimal, who discussed the healthcare services available at Maharana Bhopal Hospital. Mrs. Alka Vyas concluded the event by informing the labourers about the preparations they should take before migrating to cities, as well as safe practices to maintain while in an urban environment.
Jan-Daksha Trust organized an International Women’s Day Celebration with many of Udaipur’s female migrant labourers. As part of this celebration, Jan-Daksha initiated a vocational training program in masonry, and welcomed Labour Minister Mangi Lala Garasiya as the program’s chief guest.
The Minister discussed the importance of International Women’s Day with the labourers, and praised their determination to acheive gender equality. Other guests, like Uma Shankar, Badgaon’s block development officer, and Ved Prakash, the director of Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services, spoke to the women about the laws and rights the government provides them to fight against inequality. They continued by stressing the importance of exercising these rights, and knowing what measures they can take to ensure that no one infringes upon them. The celebration concluded with a presentation by Jan-Daksha secretary Alka Vyas, who talked about how woman continue to be mistreated and deprived of education, much like they were 50 years ago.
